Recumbent exercise bike also known as bent is a stationary exercise bike with back support, as it is fitted with a large bucket seat. Its primary feature, the seat is fixed at lower height nearer to the floor and is slightly tipped back so that you will sit back to pedal. You can adjust the levels of resistance and the grade or the difficulty can be set. The magnetic resistance is adjustable with its dial knob working in eight positions and easily accessed during the workout. Different Types Of Recumbent Exercise Bikes

There are two types of recumbent exercise bikes:

  • True recumbent exercise bikes
  • Semi- recumbent exercise bikes
 

In true recumbent exercise bikes, the exerciser is seated nearer to floor level and the legs are positioned up to the level of the chest. In semi- recumbent exercise bikes the position of the seat and the pedals are in such a way that the legs are in front and will not end up hanging down.

 

Besides there are also recumbent exercise bikes classified on the basis of the level of resistance. These include:

  • Direct tension bikes
  • Magnetic frictionless resistance bikes.
 

In direct tension bikes, the resistance is adjusted manually whereas in the magnetic frictionless resistance bikes there are different levels of workout.
